At Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic School, we are concerned with the ever-increasing cost of educating our children. At the same time, we are concerned about our obligation to educate our children in the best environment that we can provide. The investment in your child’s education and religious formation is one that will reap lifelong benefits.
To keep a Catholic education within the means of as many families as possible, we have made every attempt to keep tuition expenses to a minimum. Thanks to the generous support of the Our Lady of Lake Huron Parish community, no family pays the entire cost to educate a child.
To learn more about how we can work together to offer your child(ren) a Catholic education, please contact us.
While uniforms are not required, the general appearance of each student should reflect care and neatness. The education of each individual student of OLLH school is recognized as a primary value to be respected with appropriate and moderate dress and appearance. For safety on the playground, all K-5 students must wear enclosed shoes that cover the entire foot, including a heel strap. Grades 6-8 should not wear flip-flops or athletic slide-style shoes.
All students should dress accordingly for Mass each Thursday and when the school community gathers in the church for sacramental celebrations or other special occassions, such as holidays and feast days. When in the Eucharistic presence of our Lord, students will show reverence through their attire, including not wearing T-shirts, jeans or shorts. Please note that students may bring a change of clothing for PE.

We love bringing families together, whether that be to worship, play games, read books or serve together. There are many opportunities available for parent involvement, including our Home-School Council, School Committee and homeroom parents. Volunteers also ensure the success of our annual events and fundraisers, such as Winterfest and Summer Festival fundraisers, the Christmas program and Track and Field Day at the end of the school year. We thank our volunteers for sharing their time and talents!
Volunteers need to attend Safe Enviornment Training, which is offered through the Diocese of Saginaw. The Diocese of Saginaw promotes awareness of the signs of child sexual abuse, the means by which offenders commit abuse, and steps to prevent child sexual abuse. Safe Environment training is required for all employees and for volunteers who have contact with minors. All individuals are encouraged to receive Safe Environment training, even if they do not volunteer with children and youth in parishes and schools.
We welcome all faiths! While all students, both Catholic and non-Catholic, will participate in religious instruction, prayer, Mass, etc., we also believe having different faiths allows families to have important discussions about religion.
Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic School is rooted in our Catholic identity. Each and every morning, our school day begins gathered as a community for "Prayer and Pledge." During this time, we pray together, recite the Pledge of Allegience and ensure everyone's day starts on the right foot. Prayer is incorporated throughout the day as well.
Our school community worships together at Mass each week, and students are encouraged to serve in Mass ministries, including as altar servers, lectors, cantors and choir members. Our pre-K through third grade students participate in Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, where they encounter and nurture a relationship with our loving God.
Additionally, OLLH offers opportunities for students to practice their faith through Eucharistic Adoration, the Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession), sacramental preparation, faith-based field trips and retreats. Students also participate in community blessings, such as a Pet Blessing on the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi and classroom blessings for Epiphany.
